It goes without saying that it would have been an entirely different love story for Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson if the Titanic had not been punctured by an iceberg.

Yet, if the Titanic had sailed without incident across the Atlantic, movie director James Cameron still could have produced a three-hanky, historically based tearjerker of love and loss for the fictious, ill-fated lovers.  Spirited Rose and dashing Leonardo (er, Jack) would unite on the grand ship much to the dismay of her mother.  Rose would ditch her dastardly fiancé to be with Jack but the couple might have been wrenchingly parted, perhaps never to find each other, when they reached New York Harbor …
